A promise once made 
‘I’ll take that to my grave’
sense of honor, integrity

best of intentions
laid waste by dementia

he told me the story 
when I came to visit 
thinking I was . . .
someone else entirely

again, promise made 
‘I’ll take that to my grave’
hopefully he does
