Ponderable polemics, poetic

The Poet Takes His Meds

I recently had a
‘heart procedure’
doctor clearing out
nearly blocked artery
eliminated
offending clog with a
new stent

Now I take medication
to keep my blood thinner
flowing more freely

The med’s name –
clopidogrel
- amuses me greatly as
I have composed
plenty of doggerel in
my many years of
waxing poetic

But knowing nothing of
pharmaceutical
naming conventions I
have to wonder just
who bestowed this
medical moniker

as clopidogrel
enhances my therapeutic
mirth exponentially
multiplied as it is by
each daily morning dose
of my own medicine.
